It was an exciting night of OSCAAR racing at Sunset Speedway with Brandon sporting his new colors with a very special thanks to “KNIGHTWORKS DESIGN” from Newmarket Ontario, putting a new design and colors on Brandon’s Number “9”. Brandon started the night winning both of his Heats, and started in the 11th position, and soon worked his way up to 2nd. Starting on the outside of his Uncle Glenn he was able to run alongside for a couple of restarts but was just a little shy of completing that final pass for the lead and therefore finished in 2nd “again” behind Glenn.

Brandon is now off to Anderson, Indiana, this weekend (July 9, 2011) for the rescheduled JEGS CRA racing tour race, where Brandon has already qualified and will start the race in 3rd position, being his best starting spot this racing season.

It was certainly an interesting and productive run for the #9 at Dixie Motor Speedway, Birch Run, and Michigan for the 3rd race of the JEGS CRA Late Model Series. Brandon qualified 3rd (.79) seconds from the pole and after the invert started in 5th position. With some very hard fought battles Brandon was able to stay in the top 5 the whole race until the last lap when all hell seems to break loose with some of the drivers and Brandon was spun in corner 2 and therefore ended up in 15th position but remained on the lead lap. So now it is on to Anderson, Indiana on July 9, for the rain-out race from June, where Brandon has already qualified and will start in 3rd spot.

The boys then drove through the night in order to get Brandon back for the OSCAAR race at Mosport on Saturday night. Brandon had never raced Mosport so it was definitely a learning experience, and after much fine tuning to the car, Brandon was able to place in the top three in both heats. He started 3rd in the feature, but as his car was better on the long runs, after many caution filled laps Brandon was finally able to get up to 2nd and challenge his uncle Glen, but with less than 10 laps left was unable to complete the challenge and finished 2nd.

It was definitely a Hot and Humid night at Columbus Motor Speedway, Ohio, on Saturday, and it wasn’t just the weather, seems like a lot of the drivers were a little hot tempered as well. The track was probably unlike any other Brandon has raced, almost a complete, flat circle, therefore car set-up was of major concern. Brandon qualified 10th position out of a field of 26 cars and therefore started the race in 10th. The car was great for the first 15 to 20 laps and Brandon had worked his way up to 5th position, but then the car started to get very loose entering and exiting the corners and Brandon was forced to pit many times thereafter, which may have saved his car as the bumping and crashing then began. It then became a matter of trying to avoid all the wrecks, as many cautions ensued. Kudos to Brandon for some very good driving under some extreme heat and a caution filled last 40 laps of the race to finish in 7th position, with the car still in one piece. Next stop Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana on Saturday June 4, 2011.

Brandon had some fun and exciting racing in his OSCAAR on the weekend at the 1st OSCAAR race of the season at Sunset Speedway on May 22, 2011. During Heat #1, Brandon started in 6th position and quickly made his way up to 3rd battling for a few laps with 48 Dwayne Baker and #22, Uncle Glenn Watson, unfortunately contact with Baker in corner 3-4 in the last lap resulted in Brandon spinning prior to the checker flag. During Heat #2, it was all Brandon who took the lead during the first lap, and never looked back. Brandon then started outside pole in the feature, made the pass on the “00” of Wayne Isaacs, and took a good early lead for 35 laps, but when a caution came out Brandon had to pit as the car was really loose entering and exiting the corners. After pitting and starting at the back of the lead lap cars, Brandon was making his way back up the field when he was unable to check up when Isaacs got loose in from of him on Lap 42, resulting in Brandon getting a flat tire and having to pit again. On the restart, he again quickly made his way back up to 3rd but was unable to catch Glenn or Baker both of whom had checked away from the field, so Brandon finished 3rd and had a lot of fun!! Now we are off to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend for the 2nd race of the Jegs Crate Late Model tour.

Well it was definitely an exciting weekend of racing in Toledo Ohio on April 23, 2011, at the first race of the Jegs CRA Racing Series. The weather certainly was not co-operating and Practice Day scheduled for Friday was rained out, but we woke up to sunny skies on Saturday, and once things dried up, practice began. After a few practices, the car was tuned up and our times were good, with approximately 40 cars showing up and only 20 cars making the show on time trials, the other 12 had to qualify in heat races. Brandon qualified in 11th position with a time of 16.16, and started the big race in 9th. Due to set-up problems, he was forced to pit numerous times and therefore go to the back of the field and fight his way back and late in the race in he was caught up in an accident, but the great crew was able to fix the car and get it back out for the last 20 laps, wherein with some great driving Brandon was able to finish in 9th place. It was definitely a caution filled race and a lot of good looking cars, with only 15 cars out of the 32 finishing the race. Great Job!! Next race is Illiana Motor Speedway, Schereville, Indiana on May 14, 2011.
